The RAM that I removed (2x256 Mb) had some white stuff on it, I have no idea what it is. Maybe I was fine having 512 Mb the whole time and this stuff was causing my computer to crash randomly.

Today my MacBook is 400 days old, so I decided to reward her by bumping up the memory from 512 Mb to 2 Gb! Now it's ready for Leopard.
